Ingredients

  • 2 cups warm water (between 110 - 115 F)
  • 2 packages dry yeast
  • 2/3 cup white sugar
  • 1-1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 6 cups flour

Directions

  1. In a large bowl dissolve sugar in warm water and stir in yeast. Allow yeast to proof until yeast resembles creamy foam.
  2. Mix salt and oil into yeast mixture.
  3. One cup at a time, mix in the flour.
  4. Knead dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth.
  5. Place in a well-oiled bowl, turn dough to coat and cover with plastic wrap and allow to proof until double in size.
  6. Punch dough down and knead for a few minutes, then divide in half.
  7. Shape into two loafs and place into well-greased loaf pans. Allow to rise for about 30 minutes.
  8. Bake at 350 for 30 - 40 minutes.
