Bacon-Water Chestnut Hors D'Oeuvres

Ingredients

  • 6 oz can water chestnuts
  • 1 lbs bacon
  • 2 tbsp vinegar
  • 6 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • toothpicks

Directions

  1. Soak toothpicks in cool water for about 30 minutes before starting.
  2. Cut each water chestnut in halt.
  3. Cut bacon into thirds and fry lightly (not crispy).
  4. Wrap bacon around each chestnut and secure with a toothpick.
  5. Bake at 350 F for 50 minutes.
  6. While baking combine vinegar, ketchup and brown sugar into a sauce.
  7. Pour over chestnuts and continue baking for an additional 20 minutes.

I’m not sure if this recipe is supposed to be baked for a total of 50 minutes (30, then 20) or 70 minutes (50, then 20).
